What to measure
- Opening width: between the cabinet sides, inside.
- Opening height: from where the runner sits to whatever is above.
- Inside depth: front edge of the side to the back panel.
- Drawer side thickness, measured on the real stock: 12 to 16 mm (15/32 to 5/8 in).
The notch, hook hole and runner screws are the same on every drawer, so a whole kitchen prints the same few templates.
Questions
How wide should a drawer box be for undermount slides?
For Blum TANDEM and MOVENTO the inside width is the opening width minus 42 mm (1-21/32 in). For the outside width deduct 10 mm with 16 mm (5/8 in) sides, 12 mm with 15 mm, 16 with 13 and 18 with 12 mm sides (TANDEM also lists 14 with 14).
How tall can the drawer box be?
The opening height minus 20 mm (25/32 in) for TANDEM and minus 23 mm (29/32 in) for MOVENTO. The drawer bottom is recessed 13 mm (1/2 in).
Which runner do I need?
The longest the cabinet is deep enough for: 533 mm (21 in) needs 557 mm inside, 457 mm (18 in) needs 480, 381 mm (15 in) needs 404 and 305 mm (12 in) needs 328. Blum names each runner by its drawer length; the runner itself is a little longer.
What size is the rear notch?
At least 35 x 13 mm for TANDEM and 50 x 13 mm for MOVENTO, in each bottom corner of the back, plus a 6 mm hole 10 mm deep for the hook, 7 mm from the side and 11 mm above the notch.
Where do the runner screws go?
In frameless cabinets the runner sits 3 mm back from the front edge. Blum marks five screws as required: 10, 37 and 69 mm from the front edge, and two farther back (261 and 517 mm for a 21 in drawer). They are 37 mm above the runner bottom for TANDEM and 38 mm for MOVENTO.
